‘We will find our way back to each other’

‘We will find our way back to each other’

‘We will find our way back to each other’

Because…

If the things are meant to be, we will be together again.

I would go on a post-break up trip and say it to myself while boarding a plane.

Even better!

I would go on a date with someone else and convince myself it’s just temporary

because
OBVIOUSLY

the love of my life was going to come to his senses and knock on my door…

So I could get my happily ever after.

Spoiler alert – nobody ever knocked.

(Well, maybe a pizza delivery man did, but not the guy I was waiting for!)

Somehow…the world did not come to an end.

Eventually…I stopped waiting.

I stopped saying to myself it was going to work out one day.

I stopped being ok with the fact that my own happiness was in somebody else’s hands.

And started believing I could go out there and create it myself.

So whenever someone tells me:

‘If it’s meant to go wrong, it’ll anyway’

Or

‘If we are meant to be together, we will’

I can’t help but wonder:

If you truly genuinely want it to work out, why not…ACT?

If you’ve never met anyone like this before, be willing to do something you’ve never done before.

Don’t wait for destiny to be nice to you.

Don’t wait for the other person to become somebody you need them to be…

…because they may never really see any reason for change.

Act, don’t just react.

And accept the fact the only thing you have control over…is yourself.

Maybe it is about taking a break, growing and getting back together years later.

But maybe it’s not.

What I am certain of though

Is that taking ownership and responsibility for your own happy ending is better than waiting.

And that as much as I still love romantic comedies,

I am more of a ‘if you want it, go get it’ kind of person ?
